Imelda and Rodney Bennett live on - in Brookside! 24/11/01

Brookside fan Helen Weathers has noticed something: "Has anyone else noticed that there is a female bully at the school on Brookside called Imelda! Also a rival school mentioned the other day is Rodney Bennett! Phil Redmond's influence I take it." Hi Helen - yes I think that's Phil Redmond's influence definitely. We've seen Brookside's Imelda but we didn't know about Rodney Bennett. Curiously, in Grange Hill Imelda Davis was introduced after Rodney Bennett school was written out of the series (having merged with Grange Hill in 1985). What next I wonder -Gripper moves into the Close?

* If you've spotted a Grange Hill character reborn in either Brookside or Hollyoaks (both created by Phil Redmond), give us the details!

Memories of Tucker 24/11/01

Hello now to Gary: "Do you remember Tucker Jenkins and yeah I know thats going back awhile ! amazing the show is still going good to see liked the site." Hi Gary - we certainly do remember Tucker, and so do a lot of our visitors. Many people regard Master Jenkins as Grange Hill's best character ever. Visit our History Zone for details of some of Tucker's more infamous escapades!

Martino's cousin is my mate! 24/11/01

Amy's friend has a cousin you'd love to meet: "Hi, you might not beleive me but Martino (Nino is what we all call him) is actually my best friend's cousin. I first met him a long time ago and have seen him occasionly since. If you didn't know Nino and Lisa (Kay - Anna in Hollyoaks) are actually going out. Great website, but I think you need more info about Nino. Hi Amy, yes of course we believe you! We knew Martino went clubbing with Lisa but we didn't know they were an item. Shame their screen characters aren't getting on! Any extra info about Nino would be great, so look forward to hearing from you!

Mistake in Pantowatch? Oh yes there is! 20/11/01

Wendy Garde has spotted a howler on our new Pantowatch page: "I have found a mistake - the panto in Camberley is Beauty and the Beast and not Cinderella. As Camberley is my home town I might drag my 3 year old along to see it." Hi Wendy, and thanks for putting us straight. I've fixed our almighty mistake; we don't want GH Online to degenerate into a pantomime, do we?!

Denzil Kilvington dies age 38 20/11/01

Jim Palmer has some sad news: "It has been announced in today's Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph that Denzil Kilvington who played Kenny Haynes died recently. He is to be buried in his home town of Scunthorpe. For the full story go to www.thisisscunthorpe.co.uk and go to the story entitled "Batman actor is found dead"." Thanks for letting us know Jim. We've lost a great entertainer in Denzil - he and Kelly George made a super comic double act as Kenny and Ray back in 1993. As Jim says, the full story can be found at the above site; while our School Noticeboard has details of Denzil's career.

In love with Akik 20/11/01

Jas Virdi can't contain her excitement: "At last I have found a website who can help!!! I am/was/forever will be the biggest fan of the little cutie Akik Rashim. I have searched the length and breadth of the UK trying to find some pics of Akik. Please can you e-mail me some visuals, and put this troublesome heart to rest. Thanks!" Hi Jas! The actor who played Akik was called Sundeep Suri, and he appeared in two series of Grange Hill between 1990 and 1991. We've no idea what happened to Sundeep but we do have one photo of him, with screen sister Veena Tulsiani. Hope you like it!

The J in Aidan David 20/11/01

Hello again to Talis Simpson, who's a keen fan of Arnie and Colin: "Have you ever met Aidan or Colin? Also, what does the J stand for in Aidan J?, does anybody call Aidan AJ, and where have Aidan and Colin gone now?" Well Talis, unfortunately I've never met any GH stars! Probably because I live some distance from London and we don't get many celebs in general visiting. However I remain hopeful...

We don't know what the J in Aidan's name stand for either. But if anyone does, e-mail us and make Talis happy! Likewise, we don't know if he has a nickname either. More recently, Aidan appeared in an episode of "Peak Practice" last Thursday, and I believe Colin has completed a film. Check out www.jackiepalmer.co.uk for more news of Colin. Hope this answers your questions!

Where are Simon and Laura? 20/11/01

K. Berry is looking for two more recent stars: "Do you know what happened to Simon Long and Laura Hammett (Rick Underwood and Sarah-Jane Webster?)" Unfortunately not, I'm afraid, as both actors seem to have vanished since leaving Grange Hill. If anyone has any info about Laura or Simon, get in touch!

...And from Imelda to her mate! 20/11/01

Bill asks: "Do you know what ever happened to Ruth Carraway (Helen Kelly). Hope you can help." Hi Bill. Ruth is still acting, but she hasn't been on TV for a while now. Most recently she popped up in "The Bill" and before that she played a secretary in an episode of "Scene", BBC2's Schools drama strand. Keep watching the telly - you never know when Ruth might reappear!

Why no Star File? 20/11/01

Leslie Miles has a niggle: "Great site but please could you tell me why Imelda Davis, the girl bully, is not on your Star File?" Hi Leslie. Quite simply there isn't enough information about Fleur Taylor, the actress who played Imelda, to put together a profile. We're as disappointed as you are; there are many ex-GH actors we can't include in Star File for the same reason. However, I can tell you Fleur now runs an estate agency and is still acting too - currently she appears in CITV's "Tom And Vicky".

Name Chris's alter ego 20/11/01

Grange Hill fans in Australia are a few years behind: "My name is Hannah and im 15 and Ilive in Australia. I know Grange Hill has been on for a while but I watch it on the cable channel Nickelodeon. I'm not sure what his name is but in the show his name is Chris and he is having a secret affair with Dill. Can you tell me his name?" Sure can, Hannah! The actor who plays Chris is Ben Freeman and nowadays he appears as Scott Windsor in "Emmerdale". Keep watching Grange Hill - there are some great things to come!

Who was Roland's friend? 16/11/01

David Ankatell hopes we can settle a bet: "Could you please tell me who Roland's friend was with the thin top lip? I think his name may have been Vince." Hi David - actually his name was Jimmy Flynn, and he was played by Terry Kinsella (right). Jimmy appeared in Grange Hill between 1982 and 1985.
Incidentally, Vince (Steve George) was a couple of years below Roland and didn't come into Grange Hill until 1985. Hope the bet has gone in your favour!

Michelle Gayle's GH character 10/11/01

Staying (loosely) with Ronnie Birtles, Jim seeks our advice: "My friend and I give each other spot questians, so can you tell me the name of Michelle Gayle's character name? Cheers." Well Jim, Michelle played Fiona Wilson between 1988-89. Fiona was best friends with Ronnie and together they formed a hip-hop duo, Fresh & Fly.

Ronnie, what are you up to now? 10/11/01
Adele asks: "What is Tina Mahon doing now, is she still a actress?" Hi Adele. I'm afraid we don't know anything about Tina's current whereabouts though it's probable she's still engaged to John Alford, her long-time boyfriend. Up until a few years ago she had an agent; as for now we've drawn a blank. If anyone has seen Tina recently, tell us!

Calling all Gripper fans! 10/11/01

If you're a Gripper fan, this is for you! "Hello. I am a massive fan of Gripper (surely not the only one?) I would like to hear from other Stebson Fans . My Email is Gripper stebson2@aol.com. LONG LIVE THE G.C.E !!!!!" Indeed! Gripper was one of the most popular Grange Hill characters ever so I'm sure you'll get plenty of response. So, fellow Gripper followers, get e-mailing now!

* GCE stood for "Gripper's Cash Enterprise" - in other words Stebson's unashamed extortion from younger pupils!

Name the Scottish woodwork teacher 10/11/01

Katherine McKinlay asks: "Can you please let me know what the Scottish woodwork teacher was called in the late 80's, early 90's Thanks." Sure can Katherine! The teacher you refer to is Mr Craig McKenzie, played by Nicholas Donnelly. He first appeared in Series 8 Ep 3 (1985), and left in 1993. Since Grange Hill Nicholas has appeared in BBC1's advanture series "Bugs", but has since vanished. Hope this helps!

Info on Dill, Laurie and Chris wanted

Tarlee from Australia asks: "I love Grange Hill and I'm wandering if you know where I can get some information on Chris Longworth, Arnie Arnold, Colin Brown, Laurie Watson and Dill Lodge. They are the best. I've seached the whole web but could not get lots of information and photos. One more thing - a really good Video Vault would be when Chris and Arnie get into a fight because Dill and Chris cheat on Laurie and Arnie. Your site is really great thank you."

Hi Tarlee - welcome to GH Online! Check out our Star Files on Aidan J. David (Arnie) and Colin Ridgewell (Colin) - click the button at the bottom of this page. Dill was played by Rochelle Gadd; she was born on 20th August 1980 and has also appeared in "Hope And Glory" and "Casualty". Ben Freeman played Chris and he now stars in "Emmerdale" as Scott Windsor. His DOB is 8th April 1980. We don't know much about Sian Welsh (Laurie) apart from her birthday which is 13th August 1981. Thanks for your idea for Video Vault. When downloading RealPlayer; be sure to select RealPlayer Basic as this costs nothing. Nice to hear from you; hope this answers your questions!

Fiona the pantomime Princess 04/11/01

Andrew Startup has spotted another GH star in panto: "Another name to add to the Panto Watch page is Fiona Wade (Joanna Day). She plays The Princess in The Theatre Royal Nottingham's production of Aladdin from Dec 6th to Jan 20th." Thanks Andrew. So folks, if you're in and around Nottingham this Christmas, pop along to the Theatre Royal and give Fiona your support!

Grange Hill autographs wanted 03/11/01

Now a request from an autograph hunter: "Hi, my name is Claire. I was wondering if you could tell me how I can get autographs of the cast? Can you please tell when Grange Hill is coming back on the television? Thanks." Hi Claire! The best way to get autographs is to write to the cast. The address is Grange Hill, BBC Elstree Centre, Clarendon Road, Borehamwood, Hertfordshire WD6 1JF. Grange Hill returns at the end of January - not long now!

Wanted: Tucker's Luck on video 03/11/01

Darren Stokes asks: "I'm after Tucker's Luck the series on video I know not many people have it anymore. So I wondered if I should put an advert on your site? Is that OK?" It's more than OK, Stuart! As you say, Tucker's Luck was shown so long ago now it's difficult to find episodes. If anyone can supply Stuart with copies, drop a line here to GH Online!

UPDATE: Paula's bid for chart success 03/11/01

Wendy Garde has e-mailed with more info about Paula Ann Bland's pop record: "Paula was on Saturday Superstore (with Mike Reid) promoting her song and I always remember this as she looked, sang and acted stupid on the show no wonder it didn't get anywhere." Have to take your word for that Wendy - thanks anyway. As we said last month, if YOU'VE got a copy of Paula's single drop us a line!
